Aiming to capture the muscular movement, vitality and detail of each animal, I originally engaged with willow through the weaving of animal sculptures to commission. These sculptures can be found both on public view and in private collections throughout the UK. Now pursuing my new artistic direction, I have moved on from creating animal sculptures. I am proud that the knowledge and skills I gained whilst making these sculptures greatly inform my present teaching and that working with willow led me to fall in love with basketry. Having a textile background, I am now evolving my white willow weaving, increasingly responding to the large floral forms that I originally created in crochet with silver wire.
