Sarah Le Breton combines her passion for craftsmanship with her love of sculpting natural forms. Living in South West England and only using locally sourced Somerset willow, Sarah is evolving her work through designing and creating both baskets and sculptural lighting that often marry traditional English basket making techniques with a modern twist.
Aware of our need to save highly endangered aspects of her heritage craft form, Sarah’s love of antique furniture has recently led to her making and showcasing willow seated Arts & Crafts chairs.
An accomplished teacher, Sarah leads bespoke courses for a wide variety of clientele and offers her own Willow Days. She is increasingly involved in education and research projects in the UK and across Europe. As well as exploring our home grown basket making and willow industry heritage, Sarah is devotedly creating a wider audience for basket making and evolving her craft.
Sarah is a Heritage Crafts Association, Basketmakers’ Association and Basketmakers South West member, selected by Find a Maker in June ’21 and completed the Cockpit Arts Business Development Programme January – May ’21.
