Willow seated chair collaboration

One of the two whole willow seats designed and created in collboration with Non-Standard Studio.

For many years Sarah admired Marcus Jacka’s furniture designs, which highly resonate with the Arts & Crafts Movement ethos. It was therefore a real pleasure to collaborate on large almost throne like chairs.

This chair is shown with it’s completed willow seat but prior to having the chair frame finished. Worked in Harrison’s Brown willow, not only for it’s glorious colours but to find out what this variety can achieve in enhancing this beautiful chair design. Advanced basketry techniques include scalloming and bark on skein work.

Willow seating is an area of Sarah’s craft practice that she’s always been obsessed with, Sarah is ever wanting to elevate this rare form of natural fibre chair seating.
