Featuring a very rare oval underfoot tied slath base and a twisted handle that will never pull out, this basket was taught to Sarah by 4th generation Somerset commercial basketmaker Eddie Barnard.
Part of the Regency Era Basket Collection. Meticulously researched for historical accuracy from paintings and prints of the era, this collection has been created for the Jane Austen Festival in Bath. Exclusively available on Sarah’s website.
During her Regency basket research Sarah came across a similar basket in the mezzotint The Nosegay Girl , published by Laurie & Whittle, London 1795.
Handwoven using white willow (stripped Black Maul) variety. Locally sourced from the Somerset Levels. (On request can also be made in green Dickie Meadows variety).
