Over 2 days you will be immersed in creating an English stake-and-strand round basket. This will be either a decent size willow shopper or a medium size log basket.
Methods and traditional willow basketry techniques will include the rare underfoot tied slath base and a twisted handle that will never pull out!
Create your basket with willow locally grown on the Somerset Levels.
LEARN: A Traditional English underfoot tied slath base, the pull down wale method, a 3 rod chasing wale weave, a reverse chgasing wale weave and an English rand side weave. Complete your basket with either a 4 behind 2 rod border or 5 behind 2 rod border and an integral handle or Somerset apple picker handle.
You will also learn how to grow, harvest and prepare your willow ready for weaving.
ABILITY: Ideal for both those with a little more basket weaving experience and for beginners.
