Zigzag Lampshade Willow Day Workshop success! – 15th November 2021
It’s always slightly nerve wracking when teaching a new workshop for the first time, but last Friday 6 amazing makers, (5 of whom had some previous willow weaving experience), embarked on creating a large Zigzag weave willow lampshade in a day, and with what a result!
All 6 weavers embraced the challenge of having a choice of lampshade size and willow colours and each produced brilliant bespoke lampshades that suited their individual needs. I was incredibly impressed how everyone picked up the Zigzag weave, (also known as a reverse French rand). Requiring strength, constant control and rhythm, whilst using different types of good quality willow, this isn’t the easiest weave to learn, but everyone learnt quickly and flew with their designs.
It was great to open up my emails after the workshop to find this lovely testimonial:
“Dear Sarah, Thanks very much for a most enjoyable day couldn’t believe I could make such a beautiful lampshade only with your help. Thanks again, Keep safe, Jon xxx”
Thank you to weavers Jon, Debs, Bin, Jen, Stuart and Morag for helping to make such a wonderful Willow Day workshop at Coates English Willow. Featured photo and those below are of our day together.
As of today I only have 1 place remaining available at my next Zigzag Lampshade Willow Day workshop being held on Saturday 5th March. If you are interested, please book this place by heading to my courses page now! Many thanks, Sarah X
